This is a new mounting strip rear tensioning cable for Volkswagen Beetle models.
This strip is welded on the rear of the beetle convertible from '68 and onwards and holds the rear tension cable and therefore the convertible top in place. If it is not bent or cracked, there is a good chance that this guide has rusted through and the convertible top will come loose when it is closed
